Despite the snow over the weekend, Chicago's boating season is beginning and that means downtown traffic will have to deal with scheduled bridge lifts in the coming weeks and months!
Every spring, the city of Chicago sets a twice-weekly schedule to allow sailboat owners to return them to Lake Michigan docks. 27 bridges have to be lifted across the Chicago River to make it happen and each lift takes 8 to 12 minutes!
This week and through the month of June, bridge lifts will take place on Wednesdays at 11am and Saturdays at 9:30am.

It will be best to avoid the downtown area if you can during those times. You have been warned!!
