Truck Spills Hundreds of Bottles of Wine Onto the Bishop Ford in Chicago

The Bishop Ford Freeway was covered in wine this week when two semi trucks collided and spilled hundreds of bottles onto the roadway.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said the two trucks crashed around 12:30 a.m. on Interstate 94, near 130th Street on the Far South Side. One of the trucks was carrying about 40,000 pounds of wine bottles and had its trailer break open at the time of the crash, spilling roughly one quarter of the load spilled onto the roadway.

Officials confirm that crews worked to clean up the broken glass and spilled wine for several hours, and that lanes reopened at about 6 a.m.
