A new proposed ordinance for the Chicago City Council would rename a stretch of Lake Shore Drive in honor of Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, the man who many regard as the first non-Indigenous settler of Chicago.
The ordinance was introduced by 17th Ward Ald. David Moore and co-sponsored by other Chicago City Council members.
LSD would be renamed Jean Baptiste Point du Sable Drive from Hollywood Blvd on the North Side to South 71st street on the South Side.
It would be interesting to see if people would actually start using the name though. Much like the Sears Tower, its hard to let go of old habits.
