President Trump called Chicago "embarrassing to us as a nation" on Monday when he visited the city for a police chief conference, according to the Associated Press.
Chicago Superintendent of Police Eddie Johnson boycotted the event, which did not go unnoticed by the president. He mentioned the superintendent by name and said "I want to talk to him...maybe he could learn something."
Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot responded to the president's remarks by tweeting, "It's no surprise that @realDonaldTrump brought his insulting, ignorant buffoonery to Chicago."
