On Thursday, two circus elephants decided to take in the sights and play a bit by escaping their handlers in Russia.
After performing over the holidays in Yekaterinburg, Russia, two elephants with an Italian circus, Ranni and Karla, resisted being put on the truck to their next destination. They instead opted to do some exploring, with one of them crossing a well-traveled street to play in the snow.
A man who tried to stop the elephant was pushed and went sliding across the street on some ice. Eventually the animals were recaptured.
“The elephants wanted to get some new experiences before a long journey, and they got them,” the circus said of the incident.
