The Senate passed legislation last night that will direct the U.S. Government to send checks to almost every American to help financially survive due to the economic shutdown of the Coronavirus. The House is expected to pass it and be signed by the President.
The relief payment will be roughly $1,200 if you filed single on your 2019 taxes (up to $75,000 to $99,000 AGI). $2,400 for married filers (up to $150,000 to $198,000). You'll also get another $500 per child.
The relief funds will be delivered as a direct deposit into the same bank account that you gave the IRS when you filed your taxes this year. Otherwise, it will come as a check.
The big question is, how much will you get? The Washington Post has put together a calculator to see how much you're likely to expect.
