A new House bill introduced by Tim Ryan (D-OH), would provide $2,000 per month for at least six months to Americans over the age of 16 who make less than $130,000 per year. The legislation would also tack on $500 per child per month.
"A one-time, $1,200 check isn't going to cut it," says co-sponsor Ro Khanna (D-CA). "Americans need sustained cash infusions for the duration of this crisis in order to come out on the other side alive, healthy, and ready to get back to work."
Of course, it has to pass the House, then the Senate and be signed by the president. So there are a few hurdles to get through.
