Paul Willis of Thornton, Iowa, was surprised to receive a postcard in the mail recently from his sister, not because that was unusual, but because the postcard was postmarked 1987.
The hog farmer said his sister Annie Lowell had visited the Grand Canyon that year, and the card showed a pic of her hiking there with a San Francisco postmark. The card also bore a new postmark of April 29 this year.
Willis called the post office and was told that because of COVID-19, all the post offices are getting a deep clean, and the card must have been discovered as machines were being moved around.
