Netflix could soon be raising their subscription prices!
Notes from the earnings call, obtained from analyst Alex Giaimo, state "we believe a potential hike is probable in the near to midterm.” In the first quarter of the year, Netflix said they were "not even thinking about price increases"; however, the language is more open-ended in the second quarter.
The price might not be go up much, and for Netflix to make a lot of money, it may not need to. Even if the subscription cost went up a dollar or two, that could generate $500 million USD to $1 billion dollars next year.
Reasons for the hike might be the battle between the streaming services and the cost of procuring big Hollywood names for the service.
