‘Harry Potter’ Live-Action TV Series Reportedly In The Works For HBO Max

A live-action “Harry Potter” series is reportedly in the early stages of development for HBO Max.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that executives have had a series of meetings with writers with the goal of bringing the blockbuster franchise to television. They've been holding “exploratory conversations,” according to the source.

No writers or talent are currently attached as the conversations are still in the extremely early stages and no deals have been made.

The world of “Harry Potter” is one of the film studio’s top properties with eight films in the main franchise and two”Fantastic Beasts” spinoffs, with another currently in production and two more expected in the future.

The Harry Potter franchise has complicated rights issues. J.K. Rowling controls the franchise and has a say in everything involving the property.
