Marilyn Monroe passed away at the age of 36 in 1962 and there's a massive statue that honors her.
The 26-foot tall stainless steel statue titled, "Forever Marilyn" has returned to the city of Palm Springs after a 7-year break. The idea here is that bringing her back will help Palm Springs get back on its feet.
It stands in front of the entrance to the Palm Springs Art Museum, after a city council vote.
The museum’s director, Louis Grachos is not happy about it. “The thought of those kids leaving our museum and having the first thing they see is the undergarments and underwear of this enormous Marilyn sculpture would be highly offensive,” he told the council, via NPR.
It's literally THE most famous shot of Marilyn Monroe in existence, and sits high in the pantheon of pop culture.
