There are some great burgers out there...but which are truly the best?
Food & Wine decided to pick out the best from each state (according to them). They concentrated on high-quality beef prepared correctly on a great bun.
Here are some of the best in the mid-west!
Illinois:
Top Notch Beefburgers in Chicago – opened in 1942 on the South Side and is famous for a classic patty melt stuffed between slices of buttery rye with grilled onions and American cheese.
Indiana:
The Workingman's Friend, a tavern opened in Indianapolis in 1918.
Minnesota:
The Nook in St. Paul offers the “Juicy Nookie.” Enjoy with your choice of American or cheddar in a soft bun that absorbs all of the great flavors!
Wisconsin:
Solly's Grille in Milwaukee, around since the Great Depression. Try a quarter pound of quality sirloin, topped with their house stewed onions served in a pool of salty Wisconsin butter!
