Doctors found more than a dozen maggots in a 53-year-old French man's eye after he tended to his garden!!!
He had been gardening near a horse and sheep farm when he felt something enter his right eye. He then went to his ER complaining that his eye had been "itching for hours".
Doctors took a look and found more than a dozen translucent fly larvae wiggling around the outer structure of his eye. They removed the maggots with forceps.
The medical team soon discovered that the larvae belonged to a sheep bot fly that likely landed on the man's eye.
The findings were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
