Multiple people have been shot during the 4th of July Parade in Highland Park, IL this morning.
Officials report at least 6 dead and another 24 injured.
Shortly after, Lake County Sherriff tweeted: "We are assisting Highland Park Police with a shooting in the area of the Independence Day parade route. STAY OUT OF THE AREA - allow law-enforcement and first responders to do their work."
The shooter was reported to still be active just after 11 a.m and it appears had been shooting from a rooftop on a high building.
A Chicago Sun-Times reporter saw blankets covering three bloodied bodies and many other people wounded. Several witnesses said they heard multiple shots fired...some saying as much as 20.
