Jodie Benson, who originally voiced Ariel in the animated film The Little Mermaid, is making a cameo in the live-action movie. In the new film, Ariel, who is played by Halle Bailey, bumps into Benson in a marketplace on land. Benson offers Ariel some food and a fork, or “dinglehopper,” to eat with. As she’s learned, Ariel uses the fork to comb her hair. “It’s literally like passing the torch,” said Rob Marshall, the director of the film.
