The Return Of The Ducky Derby In Chicago

Get excited Chicago! Secret Chicago just gave us all the details on the return of the Ducky Derby!

If you're unfamiliar with this iconic event, here's all you need to know:

The Ducky Derby is put on every year to support the Special Olympics. Each year, the duck race raises upwards of $300,000 and supports tens of thousands of athletes. Chicagoans can purchase anywhere between 1-240 rubber ducks. These rubber, playful toys race to see which one reaches the finish line, that is marked in the Chicago River, first.

Many spectators attend and citizens of the city love to participate. With the actual event still months away, $3,242 has already been raised as a result of people purchasing the ducks.

The winners are contacted at the end of the event and the prizes are outstanding! 1st place receives a 2024 Chevy Trax. 2nd place gets the pleasure of attending a Royal Caribbean cruise. 3rd place collects a shopping spree. Finally, 4th place earns a $2,000 cash prize! No matter where you place, the festivities and cause of the Ducky Derby is a win.

At the end of the race, the ducks are collected out of the river and reused every year.
