The owners of a historic 139-year-old San Francisco home are moving - and taking the house with them.
Over the weekend, crews managed to transport the entire house - a two-story Victorian home built in 1880 - by loading it onto giant dollies and rolling it to its new location six blocks away - at a speed of roughly one mile per hour.
The process required approval from more than a dozen city agencies and involved relocating traffic signs, parking meters, and even trolley lines.
The cost? More than $400,000 for the move. An eight-story apartment building will be going up in the old location.
