An 84-year-old British man, Ron Croker, proved that age is just a number when he defended himself against a would-be mugger—armed only with a pair of pants.
The incident unfolded at an unstaffed laundromat where Croker was quietly drying his clothes. A masked man, half Croker’s age, attempted to rob him, demanding his wallet. But Croker wasn’t about to surrender without a fight.
Surveillance footage captured the altercation, showing the mugger lunging at Croker as the two struggled over a pair of jeans. Croker managed to push the assailant out the door, but the mugger tried again. Croker swung his pants, swatting at the thief until he finally retreated.
Reflecting on the incident, Croker, a former construction foreman, said, “I’ve had fights and scuffled when I was younger, but when he was coming at me, I thought I couldn’t back down. It was either me or him, and I won.”
Thanks to Croker’s bravery, police apprehended a 42-year-old suspect, who now faces charges of attempted robbery.
