A huge ginger stray named Clancy is winning hearts with his unique way of “talking” to humans. After spending six to seven tough years on the streets of Oregon, Clancy ended up at a local shelter covered in scars from cat fights and diagnosed with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
Because the shelter was short on space, Clancy was transferred to the Sherwood Cat Adoption Team (CAT). There, he finally got the care he needed—including being neutered, having his teeth cleaned, and beginning treatment for a bladder infection.
But what truly made Clancy stand out wasn’t just his impressive size or his battle-worn past—it was his voice. When people talked to him, Clancy responded with a raspy little meow that sounded uncannily like a conversation. Videos of him “talking back” made it seem as if he fully understood every word.
“He’s unique because of his appearance, with those huge cheeks and a very cute meow,” said volunteer Heather. “But he also has a big heart, a super soft personality—very unusual for a stray cat—and a ton of charm.”
When a video of Clancy chatting with a man was shared on Facebook, it quickly went viral. Not long after, a woman named Sandy stepped forward and chose to adopt him, accepting him fully despite his FIV diagnosis.
Now Clancy finally has a forever home—and a human who’s ready to listen to everything he has to say.
